Annamalai’s ‘We The Leaders’ Movement Nears 1.7 Million Members in Three Days
Chennai, June 2026 : Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has claimed that his newly launched political movement, “We The Leaders,” has received an overwhelming response from the public, attracting nearly 1.7 million members within just three days of its launch.
Sharing the development through a social media post on Monday, Annamalai expressed gratitude to supporters and described the rapid growth of the movement as a clear indication of the desire for political transformation in Tamil Nadu.
According to him, the initiative was launched with the objective of creating a new political culture and encouraging greater public participation in governance. He thanked thousands of supporters, volunteers, and well-wishers who have joined the movement since its inception.
“My heartfelt thanks to all my brothers, sisters, and friends. With your love and support, the ‘We The Leaders’ movement is nearing 1.7 million members within just three days of its launch,” Annamalai said.
The former BJP state chief described the milestone as only the beginning of a much larger journey. He expressed confidence that the movement would evolve into a major platform capable of bringing meaningful political change to the state in the coming years.
Annamalai said organisational work is currently underway and that the movement is in its formative stage. He clarified that no formal positions or official responsibilities have been assigned to anyone so far, including himself.
“At present, everyone, including me, is simply a member of the movement. No one has been appointed to any official role. Suitable individuals will be identified and entrusted with responsibilities in due course,” he said.
He reiterated that the organisation would function differently from conventional political structures and would not focus on permanent positions during its initial phase. The first month of activities, he said, has been dedicated entirely to expanding the membership base and building a statewide network of supporters.
Annamalai also used the opportunity to issue a warning against unauthorised organisations and groups that are allegedly using his name, photograph, and public image without permission.
He claimed that certain groups have been announcing district-level office-bearers and carrying out activities under his name despite having no connection with the “We The Leaders” movement.
Specifically mentioning organisations such as “Annamalai Anbu Koottam,” “Annamalai Charitable Foundation,” and “Annamalai People’s Movement,” he stated that these entities have no official affiliation with his newly launched initiative.
The former BJP leader said that notices and communications had already been sent to some of these organisations several months ago, requesting them to stop using his name and image. He urged all such groups to immediately discontinue any unauthorised use of his identity, branding, or photographs.
Annamalai also appealed to people interested in becoming part of the movement to register only through its official platform and avoid joining through unofficial channels.
He stressed that supporters should rely exclusively on the movement’s official registration system to ensure authenticity and avoid confusion created by unauthorised organisations.
The rapid membership growth claimed by the movement has generated considerable political interest in Tamil Nadu, where Annamalai remains one of the most prominent political figures. The coming weeks are expected to focus on expanding the organisation’s reach, identifying key leaders, and laying the groundwork for its future activities across the state.
