The investment aims to comprehensively transform <strong>Thane<\/strong> and <strong>Kalyan<\/strong>, with Thane to be developed as a \u201cMobility Hub\u201d and Kalyan as a future-ready advanced urban centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering Thane as a key gateway to Mumbai, provisions of \u20b912,000\u201313,000 crore have been earmarked for the city. A flagship project\u2014the 12\u201313 km Thane\u2013Borivali twin tunnel\u2014has been allocated \u20b93,000 crore for 2026\u201327, with total administrative approval of \u20b918,838 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metro expansion will further strengthen Thane\u2013Mumbai connectivity. Projects include Metro Line 4 (Kasarvadavli\u2013Wadala), Metro Line 4A (extension up to Gaimukh), and Metro Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar\u2013Vikhroli). Additionally, \u20b91,025 crore has been allocated for Phase I of the Thane Coastal Road, \u20b9880 crore for the Anandnagar\u2013Saket elevated corridor, and \u20b9214 crore for beautification of Rayladevi and Masunda lakes along with the Kolshhet\u2013Kalher creek bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kalyan\u2013Dombivli is set to expand as a planned urban centre, with an outlay of \u20b92,500\u20133,500 crore. To ease traffic congestion, \u20b9600 crore has been allocated for the \u20b91,239 crore Kalyan Ring Road project. Metro Line 5 (Bhiwandi\u2013Kalyan), Line 5A (Ulhasnagar extension), and Line 14 (Kanjurmarg\u2013Badlapur) will position Kalyan as a major transit hub within the MMR. The \u20b9584 crore Airoli\u2013Katai Naka road will further enhance connectivity with Navi Mumbai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To address water scarcity across the MMR, the Deputy Chief Minister directed authorities to act on a war footing. He instructed that work on the Poshir and Shilar dams be expedited to ensure long-term water security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To tackle growing traffic congestion, Shinde said an integrated mobility plan is being implemented across the MMR.
