New Delhi, Feb 2026 : Tensions flared in the capital on Saturday as agitated workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party<\/strong> staged a large protest outside the Congress headquarters in Delhi, demanding a public apology from Rahul Gandhi<\/strong> for what they termed a \u201cshameful and anti-national\u201d protest by Youth Congress members at the India AI Impact Summit a day earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n

The protest, led by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva<\/strong>, saw party workers climbing barricades and raising sharp slogans against the Congress leadership. Protesters carried placards reading \u201cAnti-national Rahul Gandhi apologise,\u201d \u201cTraitors,\u201d and \u201cNo tolerance for nation\u2019s disrespect,\u201d reflecting the intensity of their anger over the incident at the international summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Sachdeva criticised the functioning and political approach of the Indian National Congress<\/strong>, accusing it of undermining national interests for political gain. \u201cThe working style of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress is extremely regrettable. Turning an international platform like the India AI Impact Summit into a stage for political opposition is highly condemnable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sachdeva argued that the summit was a prestigious global event and a major opportunity for India to showcase its technological progress, innovation ecosystem, and leadership in artificial intelligence. Disrupting such a forum, he said, sent the wrong message to international delegates and investors and harmed the country\u2019s image abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a message shared on social media, Sachdeva said BJP leaders and workers had gathered outside the Congress headquarters to protest attempts by Congress-affiliated groups to tarnish India\u2019s reputation on the global stage. \u201cDifferences of opinion are natural in a democracy, but trying to damage India\u2019s prestige at the international level is completely unacceptable,\u201d he wrote. \u201cFor this conduct and mindset, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party must publicly apologise to the people of India.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking a sharper political tone, Sachdeva alleged that Rahul Gandhi often echoed narratives that aligned with \u201canti-India forces\u201d when he travelled abroad, and that similar thinking was now being reflected in actions within the country. \u201cThe disruption at the AI Summit shows that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress are playing into the hands of foreign forces. Such behaviour amounts to a betrayal of national interests,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protest march, led by Sachdeva, began at the Man Singh Road roundabout and proceeded to the Congress headquarters at 24, Akbar Road. BJP leaders condemned what they described as hooliganism by Youth Congress workers inside the summit venue and said such acts could not be justified under the banner of political dissent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delhi BJP Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor said thousands of party workers had gathered voluntarily despite traffic disruptions in the area. He noted that there was widespread enthusiasm among Delhi residents about India hosting a high-profile international summit, which was expected to bring significant economic benefits and generate employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kapoor alleged that the protest at the summit reflected political frustration within the Congress. \u201cInstead of supporting a global event that highlights India\u2019s capabilities, Rahul Gandhi chose confrontation. The nation will not forgive actions that harm India\u2019s image and interests,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
