Khuma<\/strong>, visited <strong>Leng village<\/strong> today to review the manner in which development works are to be taken up under the <strong>Vibrant Villages Programme II (VVP\u2013II)<\/strong>. Leng has been selected under VVP\u2013II. A meeting was held at the <strong>Leng Village Council (VC) House<\/strong> with village leaders to discuss the formulation and inclusion of the <strong>Village Action Plan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the Deputy Commissioner, officials from line departments, members of the Village Council, and representatives of community organisations participated in the meeting. The departments and the Village Council had already submitted proposals for village-level development works. During the visit, the DC and his team inspected the proposed sites on the ground and held discussions on additional requirements for the overall development of Leng village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposals submitted include construction of a <strong>Community Hall<\/strong>, improvement of the <strong>Leng\u2013Zuva connecting road<\/strong>, construction of a <strong>large water storage tank<\/strong>, renovation of the <strong>sub-centre and school<\/strong>, along with other development works. All these proposals will be further examined by the <strong>District Committee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the implementation of <strong>VVP\u2013II<\/strong>, a total of <strong>109 villages<\/strong> from <strong>16 RD Blocks<\/strong> in <strong>Mizoram<\/strong> have been selected by the <strong>Ministry of Home Affairs<\/strong>. In Serchhip District, the selected villages include <strong>Keitum<\/strong> under Serchhip RD Block, and <strong>Mualcheng, Lungkawlh, Bawktlang, North Vanlaiphai, Leng, and Sailulak<\/strong> under East Lungdar RD Block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Vibrant Villages Programme II<\/strong>, covering villages along the <strong>India\u2013Myanmar<\/strong> and <strong>India\u2013Bangladesh<\/strong> border areas, has been implemented since <strong>2024<\/strong>. In Serchhip District, a total of <strong>seven (7) villages<\/strong> have been included under this programme. As a <strong>Central Sector Scheme<\/strong>, the funding will be provided <strong>100 percent by the Central Government<\/strong>. Wherever possible, the scheme will be converged with ongoing Central Government schemes.
