Aizawl, February 2026:<\/strong>\u00a0The award ceremony for the Mizo Short Film Competition 2026 organised by the I&PR Directorate in collaboration with the Mizoram Film Development Committee was held today at the Mini Theatre, Lianchhiari Run, Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Treasury Square, Aizawl. A total of 41 short films were submitted for the competition. Pu B. Lalchhanzova, Minister, IPR & PS Department, attended and presented the awards. The ceremony was conducted by Director Pi K. Vanlalsangi, and Secretary Pi Betsy Zothanpari Sailo presented a brief report on the short film competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, IPR & PS Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova said that a good film is powerful and can influence the audience\u2019s thoughts, guiding them toward both positive and negative directions. He emphasized that it is important not merely to produce many films, but to produce quality films. The Minister also announced that, with support from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, the \u2018Lemchan \u2013 Mizo Film Festival\u2019 is planned to be held in Mizoram from March 16\u201318 to promote the state\u2019s film industry. He stated that it is important to make good use of this festival so that filmmaking and related activities can continue to develop as sustainable livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further noted that while the Mizo film industry is progressing, achieving greater success requires continuous learning and skill development, strong self-confidence, and maintaining both physical and mental health. He stressed the importance of perseverance and a mindset of \u201cI can do it,\u201d and said efforts should be made so that Mizo films attain the standard required to win National Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister also observed that when we look at critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, each film is carefully and meaningfully crafted, showing the importance of using time wisely and effectively. He congratulated all the winners of today\u2019s short film competition organized by the I&PR Directorate and expressed hope that those who did not win would remain encouraged and motivated to continue improving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Mizo Short Film Competition 2026, films of 10\u201315 minutes in length were accepted until 16 February 2026, and 41 entries were received. After careful evaluation by the judges, the results were announced today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3rd Prize:<\/strong> \u20b970,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n
