Raipur, February 2026<\/strong> : Rural women who were once confined to household chores are now taking confident steps toward self-reliance through self-employment. The National Rural Livelihoods Mission<\/strong>, implemented in the state through the Bihan<\/em> initiative, has organized women and laid a strong foundation for their economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the guidance of District Collector Chandan Tripathi<\/strong>, women associated with Bihan<\/em> are being encouraged to move beyond traditional activities and connect with new business opportunities. A \u092a\u094d\u0930\u0947\u0930\u0915 (inspiring) example of this initiative is Geeta Didi<\/strong> from Ratga Gram Panchayat<\/strong>, who is now charting a path of self-reliance by transporting children to school in an e-rickshaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A New Direction Through Bihan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, fourteen women from Ratga Gram Panchayat in Baikunthpur block formed the Jai Maa Lakshmi Self-Help Group<\/strong>. Elected as the group\u2019s president, Geeta Didi began manufacturing tree guards for plant protection in 2020. Started with a collective investment of about \u20b950,000, the initiative generated an income of \u20b93 lakh, significantly boosting the group\u2019s confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, Geeta Didi took an individual bank loan of \u20b970,000 through the group and opened a grocery shop. This ensured a steady daily income for her family and improved their financial condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, a new push was given to connect Bihan<\/em> women with fresh livelihood options. Geeta Didi enthusiastically accepted the opportunity to operate an e-rickshaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E-Rickshaw Key Handed Over by the Chief Minister<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On February 17, during the Korea Mahotsav, the key of the e-rickshaw was handed over to Geeta Didi by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai<\/strong>. Soon after, she contacted parents in her village and began providing school transport services for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the very start, she received an advance of \u20b95,600. She is now regularly transporting children from Ratga Gram Panchayat and the dependent village of Dudhniya<\/strong> to school\u2014setting a strong example of self-reliance and empowerment for rural women.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
