During her visit to Bastar, Ms. Kirsi, an international tourism expert associated with the United Nations and founder of \u201cHiwa Coaching and Consulting,\u201d closely experienced the rural environment and actively participated in mahua collection alongside local women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the third day of her visit, she began with a \u201cNature and Environment Observation Walk\u201d and bird-watching amid scenic natural surroundings. Walking along forest trails with local guides, she gained insights into Bastar\u2019s biodiversity, forest resources and ecological systems. While collecting mahua with rural women, she appeared particularly enthusiastic and described the activity as a strong example of a self-reliant rural economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the afternoon, Bastar\u2019s cultural heritage came alive when a Dhurwa tribal dance troupe presented captivating performances of traditional Mandari, Dandari and Gurgal dances. The folk dances, performed in traditional attire to the rhythm of indigenous musical instruments, left the foreign guest spellbound. Officials from the tourism board also provided her with detailed information on the historical, social and cultural significance of these dances. This was followed by an important interaction with tourism vendors, local stakeholders and district administration officials, during which technical discussions were held on the potential of rural tourism in Bastar, product refinement, marketing strategies and development aligned with international standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Dhurmaras area, during a \u201ctechnical interaction\u201d session with local bamboo artisans and craftsmen, Ms. Kirsi learned about the intricacies of Bastar\u2019s renowned bamboo handicrafts and offered suggestions to enhance product quality and expand access to global markets. Through a \u201cculture walk,\u201d she experienced various dimensions of rural life and appreciated the warmth of local hospitality. The day concluded with a debriefing session at the Dhurwa Dera homestay, where the day\u2019s activities were reviewed. The visit, organized in the presence of district administration and Chhattisgarh Tourism Board officials, aims to firmly establish Bastar\u2019s rural tourism on the international map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sharing her experience, the expert said that Bastar presents a remarkable blend of nature, culture and community participation. If showcased on the global stage in a well-planned manner, the region can emerge as an attractive international tourism destination.
