Washington, March 2026 :<\/strong> US President Donald Trump has claimed that American military operations have severely weakened Iran\u2019s armed forces, saying the country\u2019s military infrastructure has been heavily damaged amid escalating tensions and hostilities in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the White House during a roundtable discussion on college athletics, Trump briefly addressed the situation involving Iran when asked about wider global developments and ongoing security concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIran, we\u2019re doing very well,\u201d Trump said when asked about the US campaign. \u201cSomebody said how would you score it from 0 to 10? I said I\u2019d give it a 12 to a 15.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president said American military actions had significantly degraded Iran\u2019s military capabilities, including its naval forces, communications infrastructure, and leadership structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTheir army is gone\u2026 their navy is gone, their communications are gone, their leaders are gone,\u201d Trump said while describing the impact of US operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the president, the campaign has also crippled Iran\u2019s air force and disrupted several levels of military command within the country. Trump suggested that repeated strikes had eliminated multiple layers of leadership within the Iranian military hierarchy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re down to their third set,\u201d he said, referring to what he described as successive losses among Iranian commanders and senior officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump also claimed that Iran\u2019s naval fleet had been completely destroyed during the conflict. \u201cThey have 32 ships. All 32 are at the bottom of the ocean,\u201d he said, adding that US forces had inflicted major losses on Iran\u2019s maritime capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president praised the performance of American armed forces and said the operations had demonstrated the strength and readiness of the US military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur military is doing phenomenally,\u201d Trump said. \u201cPeople are very impressed with our military.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his remarks, Trump also referenced earlier US air operations that targeted elements of Iran\u2019s nuclear programme. He indicated that those strikes were part of a broader strategy aimed at weakening Iran\u2019s strategic capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Trump, Washington had faced a choice between continuing to endure attacks attributed to Iranian-backed forces or responding with decisive military action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had a choice,\u201d he said. \u201cWe could take it and go on like that for years or do something about it and we did something about it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump accused Iranian leadership of supporting attacks against American personnel, including the use of improvised explosive devices that he said had caused casualties among US troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey were killing a lot of people, a lot of our people were being killed,\u201d he said. Trump added that many American service members had been severely injured in such attacks. \u201cThey were being maimed\u2026 walking around without legs without arms, face blasted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president described Iran\u2019s leadership as \u201ca very bad and very sick group of leaders\u201d and argued that military action was necessary to prevent further attacks against US forces and interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump also said the military campaign had strengthened the international perception of American power and influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think right now we\u2019re a country that\u2019s more respected than we\u2019ve ever been respected before,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the ongoing global tensions, the president noted that he remains engaged with domestic issues as well, including efforts to reform college athletics in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t sound very important compared to what\u2019s happening in Iran and other places,\u201d Trump said of the athletics discussion. \u201cBut it is very important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
