Speaking at the Shield of the Americas Summit<\/strong>, Trump told leaders from across Latin America that Cuba is currently facing severe economic and energy shortages and may soon experience major political changes. He argued that the Caribbean nation is struggling to sustain its current system and suggested that its leadership is open to negotiations with the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCuba\u2019s at the end of the line,\u201d Trump said during the summit. \u201cThey have no money, they have no oil. They have a bad philosophy and a regime that\u2019s been bad for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the U.S. president, Cuba\u2019s economic model has long depended on external support, particularly from Venezuela. For years, Caracas supplied Havana with oil and financial assistance, which helped keep the island\u2019s economy afloat. \u201cMany of you have come today and said, \u2018I hope you can take care of Cuba,\u2019\u201d Trump told the gathering. \u201cFour of you actually said, \u2018Could you do us a favor? Take care of Cuba.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responding to those requests, the president offered a brief assurance that the United States would address the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll take care of it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump linked the developments in Cuba to a broader regional strategy aimed at strengthening U.S. influence in the Western Hemisphere and countering external powers seeking a foothold in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
