Raipur, April 2026: The field-level survey work under the \u2018All India Tiger Estimation 2026\u2019 has been successfully completed in the Industrial Plantation Division of Jagdalpur by the Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation, following the directives of Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The corporation conducted an extensive survey at the beat level across forest areas under its management. The exercise was carried out using scientific methods, with field staff recording wildlife presence through trail and transect surveys in each beat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the line transect survey, officials walked along predefined routes to assess the population, density, and habitat quality of herbivorous wildlife. Meanwhile, trail surveys focused on forest paths and water sources to identify direct and indirect evidence of carnivorous animals such as tigers and leopards. Observations included pugmarks, scat, and scratch marks on trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The entire survey made use of modern digital technology to ensure accuracy and transparency. Data was recorded in real time using the M-STrIPES mobile application, enhancing the reliability of the information collected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to officials, the data gathered on wildlife movement within industrial plantation areas, including teak and other species, will be valuable for future conservation and management strategies.
