The glorious tradition of Indian culture that emerged from Ujjain, the sacred city of timekeeping and the abode of Mahakal, has now come alive in the holy city of Kashi. On the special initiative of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the world\u2019s first \u2018Vikramaditya Vedic Clock\u2019, based on the Indian system of time calculation, has been successfully installed in the premises of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had presented this clock as an offering to Baba Kashi Vishwanath to Yogi Adityanath on April 3. Subsequently, on Vaishakh Krishna Paksha Dwitiya of Vikram Samvat 2083 (April 4, 2026), the clock was ceremoniously installed in the temple complex with full religious rituals and devotion. This installation marks a significant step towards the Madhya Pradesh government\u2019s pledge to establish the Vedic clock at all Jyotirlingas of the country and at the temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Unique Confluence of Tradition and Modernity<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Developed by the Maharaja Vikramaditya Research Peeth in Ujjain, this clock is not merely a device to display time but a digital revival of India\u2019s ancient scientific knowledge. The clock operates based on sunrise and divides a complete day into 30 Muhurtas. Its unique feature is that it calculates time precisely according to the location-specific sunrise and sunset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through this clock, devotees and the younger generation will be able to know not only the Indian Standard Time (IST) but also gain insights into traditional elements of the Panchang, such as Tithi, Yoga, Nakshatra, Bhadra status, and planetary transits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the Government of Madhya Pradesh is continuously working to preserve and promote the state\u2019s rich cultural heritage with the support of modern technology. The Vedic clock will serve as a bridge between India\u2019s glorious past and the present, inspiring the younger generation to reconnect with their cultural roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the Culture Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh, the Maharaja Vikramaditya Research Peeth had earlier installed the world\u2019s first Vikramaditya Vedic Clock in Ujjain, based on India\u2019s traditional timekeeping system. The project represents an innovative effort to revive India\u2019s ancient time-calculation tradition through modern digital technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
