{"id":113487,"date":"2026-04-06T09:52:34","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T04:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mavericknews30.com\/?p=113487"},"modified":"2026-04-06T09:52:35","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T04:22:35","slug":"british-prime-minister-keir-starmer-implement-plans-to-alleviate-450000-children-out-of-poverty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mavericknews30.com\/?p=113487","title":{"rendered":"British Prime Minister Keir Starmer Implement Plans To Alleviate 4,50,000 Children Out Of Poverty."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>10, Downing Street; April 2026<\/strong>: At a time of international uncertainty, the Government is focused on what matters most to people at home: easing the cost of living now, and making sure the country is better prepared for future shocks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;raft of changes coming into effect today will lift 450,000 children out of poverty, provide millions of pensioners with extra help to manage rising costs, and deliver the biggest upgrade to workers\u2019 rights in a generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prime Minister Keir Starmer&nbsp;in cognizance of the plights encountered by the families, downtrodden with escalating bills, the weekly shop, and global instability, reshaping their household finances, have introduced on 05th April 2026 certain measures, while laying the foundations for a stronger, more secure economy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of decisions made by this government,&nbsp;policies&nbsp;coming into effect today include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scrapping the\u00a0two child\u00a0benefit cap which\u00a0will\u00a0lift 450,000 children\u00a0out of poverty;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The biggest upgrade to workers\u2019 rights in a generation through the Employment Rights Act \u2013 delivering day one paternity and parental leave\u00a0as well as major reforms to Statutory Sick Pay, ensuring\u00a0workers can take time off when sick\u00a0without worrying about\u00a0going without\u00a0pay;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increasing\u00a0the basic and new State Pensions\u00a0by 4.8% for more than 12 million people\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0an increase\u00a0worth up to \u00a3575\u00a0a year\u00a0for\u00a0someone\u00a0on\u00a0the new State Pension;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Uprating benefits such as\u00a0PIP and Housing Benefit, and\u00a0increasing most working-age benefits by 3.8%, helping millions of low-income families and sick and disabled people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These comes alongside action the Government is taking to incentivise work&nbsp;and tackle ill-health, as well as boosting&nbsp;the standard rate of Universal Credit&nbsp;by 6.2% &#8211;&nbsp;the first&nbsp;ever&nbsp;permanent, above-inflation&nbsp;increase \u2013 worth around \u00a3265 more a year for a single person, or \u00a3465 more a year for a couple. These measures follow last week\u2019s increase in the National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage for millions of workers, alongside an average \u00a3117&nbsp;a year&nbsp;cut to energy bills for households across the country&nbsp;&#8211; locked in until the end of&nbsp;June.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taken together, this action leaves the UK better placed to weather current economic challenges, while working with global partners to secure de\u2011escalation and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to relieve pressure on prices&nbsp;globally.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prime Minister Keir Starmer, said<strong>:&nbsp;\u201c<\/strong>No matter&nbsp;the&nbsp;global&nbsp;uncertainty, my government&nbsp;will always be&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;side of the&nbsp;British people&nbsp;in bearing down on&nbsp;the cost of living. I will never lose sight of how restless people are for change, and I am proud that today&nbsp;we are&nbsp;lifting&nbsp;nearly half a million&nbsp;children&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>out of poverty, boosting support&nbsp;for&nbsp;pensioners, and delivering&nbsp;the biggest upgrade to workers\u2019 rights in a generation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prime Minister has further reiterated: \u201cI know families across the country are concerned about the conflict in Iran and what it means for the cost of living. We&nbsp;are&nbsp;working closely&nbsp;with international partners to push for a de-escalation in the Middle East and the re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz. This is the most effective way to ease the&nbsp;pressure on the cost of living.
