Nitish Kumar arrived in New Delhi on Thursday along with senior leaders Sanjay Jha and Vijay Kumar Choudhary to complete the formalities related to his entry into Parliament\u2019s Upper House. He was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha on March 16 and subsequently resigned from his position as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) on March 30. Over the years, he served four consecutive terms \u2014 2006\u20132012, 2012\u20132018, 2018\u20132024, and 2024 onwards \u2014 before stepping down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since becoming Chief Minister in November 2005, Nitish Kumar has largely governed Bihar as a member of the Legislative Council rather than the Assembly. With his resignation from the Legislative Council, constitutional provisions now require him to step down from the post of Chief Minister.
