New Delhi, April 2026 : Artificial Intelligence (AI) is bringing significant changes to the media and journalism sector, fundamentally transforming the way news is produced, presented, and delivered, said Principal Secretary of Information and Public Relations, Brijesh Singh. He urged public relations officers to effectively incorporate AI into their daily work processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was speaking at the concluding session of the National Public Relations Conference 2026, organised by the Maharashtra Introduction Centre in New Delhi under the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations. The event was attended by Karnataka Information and Public Relations Commissioner Hemant Nimbalkar, Deputy Secretary of the General Administration Department Samruddhi Angolkar, Information Directors Hemraj Bagul, Kishor Gangurde, Govind Ahankari, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Singh emphasised that in today\u2019s fast-paced environment, timing is crucial in news dissemination. With the help of AI, tasks such as editing, translation, and generating region-specific content have become more efficient, enabling faster and more impactful communication. He noted that since 2023, the media landscape has undergone rapid transformation, with the rise of \u201cliquid content,\u201d real-time news, and increased use of digital tools. As a result, citizens now expect more reliable and high-quality information, making it essential for professionals to use technological tools creatively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further highlighted the growing importance of short videos and visual storytelling in communication. While optimizing content for wider reach, maintaining accuracy and credibility remains critical. With the increasing prevalence of deepfakes and fake news, there is a pressing need to establish AI-based fact-checking mechanisms. He stressed that setting up dedicated fact-check units is the need of the hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Singh also underlined the importance of responsibility and sensitivity in government communication. Strong measures must be taken to curb misinformation on social media platforms. He called on public relations professionals to adopt AI-driven work practices and expand the use of technology in content creation, distribution, and consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, he encouraged government officials and PR personnel to enhance their skills through training platforms such as iGOT.
