He flagged off the rake and inspected the coal handling facility on the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fadnavis stated that the availability of high-quality coal from the Gare Palma mine would significantly enhance power generation capacity. He emphasised that this would reduce dependency on external coal sources, support environmental conservation efforts, and contribute to lowering electricity tariffs in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further highlighted that the project would help eliminate load shedding and make it easier to provide uninterrupted daytime electricity to farmers, thereby improving agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gare Palma coal mine has been allocated to Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (Mahagenco) and spans an area of 1,583.487 hectares. The mine is expected to provide a steady supply of high-grade coal for the next 77 years, with an estimated production capacity of 655.152 million tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Production at the mine commenced in March 2026, and so far, approximately 80,895 metric tonnes of coal have been extracted. The coal will be supplied to key thermal power stations in Koradi, Chandrapur, and Parli, ensuring long-term fuel security for these facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fadnavis noted that the project would allow better control over coal quality, which is critical for efficient and cost-effective power generation.
