Mumbai, April 2026 : Maharashtra is emerging as a preferred investment destination for Vietnamese industries, leading to stronger economic partnerships. The state will focus on enhancing investment, trade, and bilateral cooperation in the coming years, said Marketing and Protocol Minister Jaykumar Rawal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was speaking during a courtesy meeting with Vietnam\u2019s Consul General Le Quang Bien at the \u092e\u0902\u0924\u094d\u0930\u093e\u0932\u092f (Mantralaya) in Mumbai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Rawal stated that under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the government is committed to providing full support to ensure smooth investment and trade cooperation. He said this collaboration reflects mutual trust and a shared economic vision between Maharashtra and Vietnam. He expressed confidence that new initiatives and sustainable development efforts will usher in a new era of prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Welcoming the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Vietnam\u2019s leading conglomerate Vingroup, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, and the state\u2019s Industries Department, Rawal said the agreement involves investments exceeding \u20b954,000 crore. The project will establish a world-class integrated ecosystem in the state, including townships, healthcare and educational facilities, as well as green mobility initiatives such as electric buses and taxis. He expressed confidence that this investment will generate large-scale employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister also said that the Maharashtra government is ready to welcome an upcoming high-level delegation from Vietnam to Mumbai. In this context, it was decided to jointly establish a \u2018Vietnam\u2013Maharashtra Business Forum,\u2019 which will play a key role in promoting direct industry engagement and strengthening economic ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was also informed that a \u201ctwinning city\u201d agreement between Mumbai and Ho Chi Minh City is in its final stages, and the historic pact is expected to be signed during the upcoming visit of the President. This partnership will further strengthen urban infrastructure cooperation, cultural exchange, and direct trade relations between the two cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, positive discussions were also held on expanding cooperation in agriculture and textiles. Maharashtra, a leader in agricultural marketing, expressed readiness to partner with Vietnam to strengthen supply chains and boost bilateral trade in agricultural products.
