Tiruppur, April 2026 :<\/strong> Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), on Tuesday announced a series of ambitious welfare measures aimed at key sectors including weavers, farmers, MSMEs, and government employees during a high-energy election rally in Tiruppur, one of the state\u2019s \u092a\u094d\u0930\u092e\u0941\u0916 textile hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing a large gathering in the Kongu region, Vijay extended his greetings to the people and revealed that his party\u2019s full-fledged election manifesto would be released in book form on April 16. Ahead of that, he highlighted a set of \u201cpriority promises\u201d designed to tackle long-standing issues faced by various sections of society, particularly those linked to the textile economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Focusing on the struggling weaving community, Vijay announced plans to establish a dedicated e-commerce platform under a unique brand that would enable local weavers to directly access international markets. This initiative aims to eliminate middlemen and enhance global visibility for Tamil Nadu\u2019s textile products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To provide immediate financial relief, he promised an annual assistance of Rs 30,000 to every family engaged in handloom or powerloom activities. In addition, he proposed free electricity up to 500 units for handloom units and 1,500 units for powerlooms, addressing one of the biggest cost burdens faced by the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further strengthening support, Vijay assured a 50 per cent subsidy on essential raw materials such as yarn and dyes, which have seen rising costs in recent years. He also pledged a Rs 10 lakh life insurance cover for all weavers and proposed increasing their monthly pension to Rs 3,000, aiming to improve social security for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turning to small and medium enterprises, Vijay acknowledged the challenges posed by high electricity tariffs. He promised to temporarily suspend peak-hour electricity charges for MSMEs and announced a complete waiver of electricity tax for five years to help revive struggling industries, especially in the textile sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the agriculture sector, Vijay outlined significant relief measures for farmers. He promised a full waiver of farm loans for those owning less than five acres of land, while farmers with larger holdings would receive a 50 per cent loan waiver. Additionally, he proposed increasing the procurement price of paddy to Rs 3,500 per quintal and sugarcane to Rs 4,500 per tonne. An annual financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per farmer family was also part of his announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On governance and administrative reforms, Vijay said his party would consider reinstating the old pension scheme for government employees. He also promised regularisation of temporary staff who have completed more than five years of service, addressing a long-pending demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting issues within the police force, he assured transparent transfer policies and an end to corruption in promotions. He further pledged salary hikes, better welfare hospitals, and improved working conditions, particularly for women police personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concluding his address, Vijay urged voters to place their trust in his leadership, stating that his promises were sincere and aimed at genuine transformation.
