{"id":115329,"date":"2026-04-16T23:27:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T17:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mavericknews30.com\/?p=115329"},"modified":"2026-04-16T23:27:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T17:57:11","slug":"world-athletics-nationality-review-panel-refuses-11-transfer-of-allegiance-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mavericknews30.com\/?p=115329","title":{"rendered":"World Athletics Nationality Review Panel Refuses 11 Transfer Of Allegiance Applications."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>April 2026<\/strong>: The World Athletics Nationality Review Panel has today refused the applications of 11 athletes seeking to transfer their allegiance to T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The athletes concerned are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Catherine Relin (Selin Can) Amanang\u2019ole (KENYA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rajindra Campbell (JAMAICA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jaydon Hibbert (JAMAICA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brian Kibor (KENYA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brigid Kosgei (KENYA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ronald Kwemoi (KENYA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nelvin (Can) Jepkemboi (KENYA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Favour Ofili (NIGERIA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wayne Pinnock (JAMAICA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roj\u00e9 Stona (JAMAICA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sophia Yakushina (RUSSIA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In its decisions, the panel considered that approval of these applications would impinge upon and compromise the imperatives underlying the World Athletics eligibility rules and transfer of allegiance regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel found that the applications formed part of a coordinated recruitment strategy led by the T\u00fcrkiye government acting through a wholly\u2011owned and financed government club, to attract overseas athletes through lucrative contracts, with the aim of facilitating transfers of allegiance and enabling those athletes to represent T\u00fcrkiye at future international competitions, including the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the common features across the applications, the panel assessed them together and determined that such an approach is inconsistent with the core principles of the regulations. These principles are designed to safeguard the credibility of international competition, encourage Member Federations to invest in the development of domestic talent and maintain confidence among athletes that national teams are not primarily assembled through external recruitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of the decisions, the athletes are not eligible to represent T\u00fcrkiye in national representative competitions or other relevant international events. The panel noted, however, that this does not prevent the athletes from competing in one-day meetings or road races in a personal or club capacity, or from living and training in T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>World Athletics\u2019 transfer of allegiance regulations govern the conditions under which an athlete may represent a Member Federation in international competition.
