She stated that while the government is not against industries, they must strictly adhere to environmental norms and cannot compromise public health.

Speaking during her visit to Chandrapur, the minister said that a phased pollution control strategy will be implemented — beginning with a one-year plan, followed by a three-year roadmap, and eventually a long-term solution. She conducted on-ground inspections at key industrial sites, including the conveyor belt at the Chandrapur Thermal Power Station in Durgapur, Mahamaya Coal Washery in Belsani, and Vidarbha Mineral Energy Limited in Ghugghus.

Munde highlighted that large-scale industrial activity in the region has led to significant pollution, adversely affecting residents. “No one has the right to endanger the lives of citizens. Pollution here has reached concerning levels, and we are committed to addressing it,” she said while interacting with locals.

The minister recalled that she had earlier assured action on the issue after it was raised in the State Assembly. “I have come here personally to understand the gravity of the problem and to ensure solutions are implemented effectively,” she added.

She emphasized that pollution has led to serious health issues among residents and economic losses for farmers. In particular, she pointed out that cotton crops in nearby areas have turned black due to industrial emissions. She directed industries to immediately install pollution-control equipment such as foggers and other necessary systems and warned of strict action against non-compliance.

“Human life is extremely valuable, and we will not allow anyone to play with it. Industries must follow regulations, or we know how to enforce compliance,” she asserted, adding that officials failing to act would also face strict consequences.

The minister also assured that affected farmers would receive compensation for crop damage caused by pollution.

MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar, who accompanied the minister, reiterated that decisions to curb pollution would be taken within the framework of law.
