Tehran; April 2026<\/strong>: Iranian armed forces yesterday (19th April 2026) have stopped two tankers that were trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, Tasnim news agency reported. The tankers, flying the flags of Angola and Botswana, were forced to change course and return. Iran, which had reopened the strait on Friday after weeks of closure, closed it again on Saturday, citing the ongoing US blockade of Iranian ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Navy (IRGN) had warned hours earlier that any attempt to pass through the Strait of Hormuz would be considered cooperation with the enemy. Any vessel that does so would be targeted. “We warn that no ship, of any type, should leave its anchorage in the Persian Gulf or the Sea of \u200b\u200bOman”, the Guards said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per an audio recording heard by Maverick News 30, in which the captain of an Indian tanker was adviced to turn back, as navigation is been prohibited. The negotiator was heard to be modestly asking the Indian Captain to copy his message, and turn the ship back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the United States and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, Tehran retaliated by crippling shipping in the Strait of Hormuz through a combination of attacks on vessels and threats of further strikes. Although the United States and Iran agreed to a ceasefire last week, Washington this week, following failed peace talks in Islamabad, proceeded to blockade ships sailing to and from Iranian ports. The stated aim of the blockade is to limit Tehran\u2019s oil revenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaji described the US blockade as illegal and criminal, it was a violation of the ceasefire. On the other hand, US President Donald Trump today described Saturday’s Iranian shelling of ships in the Strait of Hormuz as a violation of the ceasefire. He also announced that an American delegation would be in Islamabad on Monday evening to negotiate an agreement with Tehran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iranian armed forces warned today that in the event of a continued US blockade of Iranian ports, they will block all commercial shipping in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of \u200b\u200bOman and the Red Sea. According to the spokesman for the Iranian forces’ command, Ali Abdollahi, the US is threatening the security of Iranian vessels and oil tankers with the blockade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
