\u2018Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan\u2019 gives new momentum to water conservation in state
Madhya Pradesh scores third position at the national leve<\/strong>l<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that water conservation is becoming into a mass movement in the state. Saving water is our social responsibility so that future generations never face a shortage of this invaluable gift of nature. For this, along with preserving existing water sources, dried-up water bodies must also be revived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated that the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan is being implemented across the state to promote water conservation. This campaign, driven by joint efforts of the government and people, has shown remarkable progress within just one month. The Chief Minister has called upon all citizens of the state to actively participate in this initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ongoing Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan has achieved significant progress in a short span. Launched on March 19, 2026, the campaign is rapidly evolving into a widespread public movement focused on water conservation, strengthening water structures, and encouraging public participation. As a result, Madhya Pradesh has improved its national ranking from sixth to third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign, running until June 30, involves 58 activities across 16 departments, with a financial target of approximately \u20b96,278 crore. Over 2.44 lakh water conservation and augmentation works have been identified, with development works worth around \u20b96,236 crore currently being implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monitoring through an integrated dashboard<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Commissioner of MGNREGA informed that an integrated dashboard has been developed for real-time monitoring of the campaign on a single platform. All departments are regularly updating the progress of their activities, and district-wise rankings are also being generated. This system is promoting transparency and healthy competition among departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In rural areas, the Panchayat and Rural Development Department has achieved notable success. Under the campaign, 39,977 farm ponds have been constructed, 59,577 well-recharge structures developed, and more than 21,950 existing water structures rejuvenated. Efforts are also being made to promote the construction and use of Amrit Sarovars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water conservation in urban areas<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extensive efforts are also underway in urban areas. The Urban Development and Housing Department is rapidly carrying out works such as restoration of ponds, wells, and stepwells, cleaning and beautification of drains, and installation of rainwater harvesting systems. Additionally, in view of the intense summer, public drinking water points have been set up at various locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Awareness activities by MP Jan Abhiyan Parishad<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the MP Jan Abhiyan Parishad, large-scale public awareness programs have been conducted across the state, with active participation of over 5.25 lakh people. Additionally, 2,682 water kiosks (Jal Mandirs) have been established in different development blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Awareness in schools<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The School Education Department is also actively participating. Thousands of schools have organized water rallies, essay and poster competitions, and interactive programs to raise awareness among students and parents about water conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under technical innovations, real-time monitoring of watershed development works, online approvals, and mobile app-based tracking systems have been implemented to ensure quality and administrative transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Forest and Environment Department is also undertaking various field activities, keeping ecological balance in mind. These include testing river water quality, constructing water structures, and preparing for plantation drives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state government is ensuring continuous monitoring and regular reviews, helping to address practical challenges at the ground level. The Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan has started delivering results and is emerging as a model for other states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
