Jaipur, April 2026 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the Rajasthan government has launched a unique initiative titled \u2018Raj-Mamata\u2019 aimed at strengthening mental health care across the state. The programme focuses on ensuring \u201cmental health for all\u201d as part of the broader vision of \u201cDeveloped Rajasthan-2047.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Announced in the 2026\u201327 state budget, the \u2018Raj-Mamata\u2019 (Rajasthan Mental Awareness, Monitoring and Treatment for All) programme is now being actively implemented following World Health Day. Alongside this, the Central government\u2019s National Tele Mental Health Programme, \u2018Tele-MANAS\u2019, is also being effectively operated across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through these initiatives, the government aims to provide psychological support to citizens and address issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression. Officials say Rajasthan is moving toward becoming a model state in the field of mental healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the programme, a \u2018Centre of Excellence in Mental Health\u2019 will be established in Jaipur. The facility will be equipped with advanced counselling and telemedicine services, enabling people from remote areas to access expert advice. Additionally, \u2018Mental Health Care Cells\u2019 will be set up in every district headquarters to provide local access to consultation, rehabilitation, and treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u2018Tele-MANAS\u2019 service (helpline numbers 14416 and 18008914416) has emerged as a crucial support system for individuals facing mental health challenges. As of April 15, 2026, more than 71,000 people in Rajasthan have received counselling through these toll-free numbers. The service has been operational in Jaipur since May 2023 and in Jodhpur since November 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government is also placing special emphasis on the mental well-being of youth. Under the \u2018Raj-Mamata\u2019 programme, special counselling sessions will be organised in educational institutions to address rising stress levels and prevent tendencies such as self-harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
