Pune<\/strong> : Given the encouraging response to pink e-rickshaws in the first phase, the initiative will now be extended to other cities across Maharashtra, and pink e-rickshaws will be designated as feeder services at metro stations, airports, and tourist destinations, announced Deputy Chief Minister and Pune District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was speaking at a distribution ceremony for pink e-rickshaws held in the premises of the College of Agriculture, Shivajinagar. The event was also attended by Women and Child Development Minister Ms. Aditi Tatkare, Agriculture Minister Adv. Manikrao Kokate, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe, State Women\u2019s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar, MLA Bapusaheb Pathare, Women and Child Development Commissioner Nayana Gunde, Zilla Parishad CEO Gajanan Patil, Kinetic Green Chairman Sudhanshu Agrawal, and Ritesh Mantri, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ajit Pawar said that under the first phase, the government aims to distribute 10,000 pink e-rickshaws in cities including Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nagpur, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Amravati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Kolhapur, and Solapur. This scheme is designed to economically empower women and make them self-reliant by generating employment opportunities and enhancing their social status. The scheme offers a subsidy of \u20b925,000 from the central government and \u20b975,000 from the state government. Additionally, up to 70% loan assistance is provided through various banks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that the state government is committed to ensuring the safety of women and that the pink e-rickshaw initiative is a crucial step in that direction. Women driving these rickshaws should ensure not only their own safety but also be mindful of the safety of fellow women passengers. He expressed confidence that these women drivers would become role models in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pawar also reaffirmed that both the central and state governments are running various programs aimed at women’s advancement and children’s welfare. The \u2018Ladki Behan Yojana,\u2019 which provides a monthly honorarium of \u20b91,500 to women, will also continue in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Aditi Tatkare mentioned that the goal is to distribute 10,000 pink e-rickshaws in the first phase, with 4,000 allocated to Pune district. Of these, 60 women from Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation have received their e-rickshaws as part of a pilot distribution and have also undergone training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further added that the state aims to install over 1,000 EV charging stations in Pune soon. Pink e-rickshaw services will be available at metro stations, airports, industrial zones, and tourist spots. The government is also in talks with ride-sharing platforms like Ola and Uber for partnerships, which will enhance travel safety for women and create employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe praised the initiative, noting that women are already excelling in various sectors using their skills and are being recognized with awards. She emphasized that the pink e-rickshaw scheme not only provides income-generating opportunities but also boosts confidence and ensures safety. She urged beneficiaries to make the most of this opportunity and suggested exploring the use of pink e-rickshaws for transporting school children. She also recommended that first aid training be included as part of the training provided under the scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by officials and staff from the Women and Child Development Department and municipal corporations, along with the women beneficiaries of the pink e-rickshaws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
