During the meeting, he assessed, through a virtual platform, the progress made by district collectors in segregating and recycling various types of waste in government offices across Tamil Nadu under the \u201cClean Tamil Nadu Mission.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the first phase of this initiative spearheaded by <strong>Clean Tamil Nadu<\/strong>, government offices throughout the state\u2014including those under the Chennai Corporation\u2014carried out a massive cleaning drive today. This effort involved the segregation and collection of <strong>plastic waste, electronic waste, biodegradable waste, paper waste, glass waste, and unusable wooden materials<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a press interaction following the review meeting, the Hon\u2019ble Deputy Chief Minister shared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn a previous cabinet meeting, the Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister directed us to make Tamil Nadu a cleaner state and to implement a solid waste management strategy. Based on his instructions, the <strong>Clean Tamil Nadu Mission Project<\/strong> was announced as a special initiative. For this project, the Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister allocated <strong>\u20b910 crore<\/strong> from the state budget.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To mark <strong>World Environment Day<\/strong>, approximately <strong>1,100 government offices across 38 districts<\/strong> participated in this mass cleanup effort, focusing on identifying and collecting different types of waste. This operation officially launched today and has been progressing successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To coordinate and monitor the activities across the 38 districts, a <strong>Control Room<\/strong> has been established at the Ribbon Building of the Greater Chennai Corporation. As of now, <strong>around 300 metric tonnes of waste<\/strong> have been collected statewide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been issued to all district collectors to ensure proper handling and processing of the collected waste in compliance with environmental regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Deputy Chief Minister further stated that after observing how the project functions over the next two days, it will be extended to include <strong>village panchayat offices, government hospitals, colleges, and schools<\/strong> within the next <strong>10 days<\/strong>, based on further instructions from the Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also appealed to the public to actively participate in this mission, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThrough this initiative, we aim to build a cleaner Tamil Nadu, and I encourage all citizens to join hands with the government to achieve this goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was attended by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mrs. R.
