Deputy CM Honors Sanitation Didis and Workers Who Made Bilha the Cleanest Town in India<\/strong>
Public Takes Cleanliness Pledge at the Event<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raipur, Aug 25 <\/strong>: Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao<\/strong> honored the Swachhata Didis (sanitation women workers)<\/strong> and cleaning staff<\/strong> who played a key role in making Bilha the cleanest town in India<\/strong> among cities with a population under 20,000. At a felicitation ceremony held at Kanya Bhawan in Bilha<\/strong>, he honored 28 Swachhata Didis<\/strong>, 20 sanitation workers<\/strong>, and 10 cleanliness commandos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, Bilha secured the top rank<\/strong> in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25<\/strong>, conducted by the Government of India, in the category of towns with a population under 20,000. The event was attended by Bilha MLA Shri Dharamlal Kaushik<\/strong> and CREDA Chairman Shri Bhupendra Savanni<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swachhata Workers Honored for National Recognition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Deputy CM Arun Sao stated, \u201cThanks to you, Chhattisgarh has earned national prestige. Being ranked first in cleanliness is a matter of pride for all of us, and we must now work to maintain this achievement. Every resident of Bilha must pledge their commitment to cleanliness.\u201d<\/em> He administered a cleanliness oath<\/strong> to everyone present at the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shri Sao emphasized that under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership<\/strong>, cleanliness has become a nationwide movement<\/strong>. Cleanliness is a part of our culture and nature<\/strong>, he said, and keeping our town clean is as important as keeping our homes clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He informed the audience that in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25<\/strong> conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Chhattisgarh received national recognition<\/strong> for its excellent performance in cleanliness. Out of the 169 cities<\/strong> from the state that participated, 115 improved their rankings<\/strong>. The contributions of Swachhata Didis and sanitation workers were instrumental<\/strong> in this success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Development Funds for Bilha Will Not Be a Problem<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Deputy CM Sao assured the public that there will be no shortage of funds<\/strong> for Bilha\u2019s development. \u201cAs soon as proposals are received, funds will be approved the next day,\u201d<\/em> he announced. He called on public representatives, officials<\/strong>, and residents<\/strong> to continue working together to keep Bilha clean and beautiful<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bilha\u2019s Historic Achievement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

MLA Shri Dharamlal Kaushik<\/strong> said, \u201cBilha\u2019s name is now written in the pages of history. To be ranked first nationwide is a proud moment for all of us. Prime Minister Modi had called from the ramparts of the Red Fort for a nationwide cleanliness drive, and today it has become a true people\u2019s movement. Even children are now aware and involved.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CREDA Chairman Shri Bhupendra Savanni<\/strong> remarked that this success was possible only because of the dedicated efforts<\/strong> of the Swachhata Didis and sanitation workers. \u201cCleanliness is a service and a commitment, which our workers are fulfilling wholeheartedly,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bilha Nagar Panchayat President Smt. Vandana Jendre<\/strong> praised the dedication and spirit<\/strong> of the Swachhata Didis, stating that their hard work has put Bilha on the map across India<\/strong>. Others present included Nagar Panchayat Vice President Shri Satish Sharma<\/strong>, CMO Shri Praveen Gehlot<\/strong>, and Janpad Panchayat President Shri Ram Kumar Kaushik<\/strong>, along with a large number of residents, sanitation workers, and commandos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Waste Collection by 28 Swachhata Didis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bilha Nagar Panchayat, with a population of approximately 15,000<\/strong>, has 28 Swachhata Didis<\/strong> who go door-to-door<\/strong> collecting waste in e-rickshaws<\/strong> across the 15 wards<\/strong>. The collected waste is taken to the SRLM Center<\/strong>, where it is segregated into wet and dry waste<\/strong>. Wet waste is converted into compost, while dry waste is sold, enabling these women to become economically self-reliant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, 10 special Swachhata Commandos<\/strong> operate throughout the town using tractors and auto-tippers<\/strong> for waste collection and public awareness campaigns<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
