Aug 2025 : Milma, Kerala’s premier state-level dairy cooperative, will launch bottled milk today (19th<\/sup>. August, 2025), further consolidating its position as the market leader in dairy products. The new product- bottled milk, introduced by the Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers\u2019 Union (TRCMPU) of Milma, will be launched by Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J. Chinchurani. Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal will preside over the function, where the best-performing dealers will also be honoured. TRCMPU Chairperson Mani Vishwanadh said the new product, branded ‘Milma Cow Milk’<\/strong>, will initially be available through Milma sales outlets and agencies in Thiruvananthapuram district in one-litre bottles priced at Rs. 70\/-. It will later be introduced in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMilma Cow Milk in one litre bottles is procured from select Milma units under TRCMPU, ensuring superior nutritional value compared to similar products available in the market<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong>\u201d, Mani Vishwanadh said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of Onam celebrations, TRCMPU will provide an additional incentive of Rs. 6\/- per litre of milk procured in July. Out of this, Rs. 4\/- will go directly to farmers, Rupee 01\/- to dairy cooperative societies, and Rupee 01\/- will be credited as their additional share in TRCMPU. An amount of Rs. 4.80 crores have been earmarked for this purpose, sourced from profits earned since the beginning of the financial year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TRCMPU Board has also approved financial assistance of up to Rs. 25,000\/- for farmers during medical emergencies. This year, TRCMPU has rolled out 30 new projects aimed at the economic and social well-being of dairy farmers in its network. These include financial aid for education, medical assistance, solatium for families of deceased farmers, and a pension scheme. Last year, TRCMPU made a record profit of Rs. 39 crores, of which 85% was distributed as incentives to farmers, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milma Cow Milk will contain 3.2% fat and 8.5% solids-not-fat (SNF). The bottles are made of high -quality food-grade plastic, and the product has a shelf life of three days under refrigeration. Distribution will be through Milma agents, wholesale distributors, supermarkets such as Lulu and Reliance, as well as online sales platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To popularise the new product, Milma has planned a lucky draw contest. Ten customers who purchase bottled milk on August 20 and 21 will be selected through a draw based on the five digit batch code on the bottle. Each winner will receive a prize worth Rs. 15,000\/-. The winners will be announced on August 23, and prizes distributed on August 26 at Milma Ksheera Bhavan. Customers buying two bottles of Cow Milk from supermarkets on August 20 will also receive 500 ml of Milma Homogenised Toned Milk free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TRCMPU Board Member K. R. Mohanan Pillai said the agreement signed by Milma with the Travancore Devaswom Board for the supply of ghee to the Sabarimala temple during the pilgrim season was historic. TRCMPU has received an order to supply around 170 tons of Milma ghee to Sabarimala and allied temples during October and November. \u201cWe are also seeking permission to set up a stall at Sabarimala<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong>\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF) was formed in 1980 as a state adjunct of the National Dairy Programme \u2018Operation Flood\u2019. It is a three-tiered organization. At the grassroots level MILMA has 3100 Anand model primary milk co-operative societies with 11 lakh local milk producing farmers as members. These primary societies are grouped under three Regional Co-operative Milk Producers\u2019 Unions viz TRCMPU for Thiruvananthapuram region, ERCMPU for Ernakulam region and MRCMPU for Malabar region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
