Jaipur, Sept 2025<\/strong> : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that farmers are the backbone of the state\u2019s economy and ensuring smooth electricity supply for their agricultural activities is the government\u2019s top priority. He instructed officials to guarantee adequate and uninterrupted power supply to farmers during the upcoming Rabi season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presiding over a review meeting of the Energy Department at the Chief Minister\u2019s Office on Sunday, Shri Sharma said that all necessary preparations must be completed on time to avoid any disruption in power supply during the season. He directed that maintenance of power generation units be completed in advance so that these units do not face shutdowns between October and February when demand peaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purchase Additional Power if Needed<\/strong>
The Chief Minister noted that due to good rainfall this monsoon, the sowing area has expanded, which will likely increase electricity demand compared to last year. He instructed officials to arrange additional power purchases, if necessary, to ensure that irrigation of Rabi crops is not affected. He also stressed on enhancing battery storage capacity for surplus power to further strengthen supply systems. Additionally, he directed speeding up solar power projects so that farmers can receive daytime power supply by 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farmers and Consumers as Energy Providers<\/strong>
During the meeting, Shri Sharma also reviewed the PM Surya Ghar: 150 Units Free Electricity Scheme<\/em> and the PM Kusum Yojana<\/em>. He said Rajasthan has immense potential in renewable energy, and through the PM Kusum scheme, farmers are being empowered to become energy providers. Domestic consumers are also being encouraged to adopt solar energy, which will not only meet their household energy needs but also enable them to generate income by selling surplus power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was informed that to strengthen power supply, 92 Grid Sub-Stations (GSS) have been established in FY 2025\u201326, and transformer capacity has been increased by 576.35 MVA, bringing the total additional capacity this year to 949.30 MVA. Procurement of essential equipment like transformers, conductors, and cables is also underway for maintenance of power units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
