The downpour has caused widespread waterlogging, disrupted transport, and led to the closure of schools in many districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Low-lying areas in <strong>Khammam, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Suryapet<\/strong> and neighbouring districts were inundated as incessant rain continued through Tuesday night. Authorities declared a <strong>holiday for educational institutions<\/strong> in these areas as a precautionary measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Nagarkurnool district<\/strong>, several villages were cut off after overflowing rivulets and streams submerged connecting roads. The district, which shares its border with Andhra Pradesh, has reported some of the heaviest rainfall in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rainwater entered an <strong>electricity sub-station at Pulicherla village<\/strong> in Nalgonda district, disrupting power supply to several villages in <strong>Peddapur mandal<\/strong>. In <strong>Sultanabad mandal of Peddapalli district<\/strong>, heavy rain damaged large quantities of paddy stored in the agriculture market yard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to data from the <strong>Telangana Development Planning Society<\/strong>, <strong>Uppununthala in Nagarkurnool district<\/strong> recorded the state\u2019s highest rainfall of <strong>20.8 cm<\/strong> during the past 24 hours. <strong>Amrabad<\/strong>, also in Nagarkurnool, received <strong>19.7 cm<\/strong>, while <strong>Theldevarapally in Nalgonda district<\/strong> recorded <strong>18.5 cm<\/strong>. Other areas, including <strong>Veltur (18.3 cm), Ainole (17.8 cm), Padra (16.28 cm), Achampet (15.9 cm)<\/strong> and <strong>Yerraram (15.15 cm)<\/strong>, also experienced torrential rainfall. Nearly <strong>30 locations<\/strong> across Telangana recorded over <strong>10 cm<\/strong> of rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Hyderabad<\/strong>, moderate to heavy rainfall since Tuesday night led to <strong>water stagnation on major roads<\/strong>, slowing morning rush-hour traffic and causing inconvenience to commuters. Outskirts and low-lying localities reported moderate showers through Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>India Meteorological Department (IMD)<\/strong> has forecast <strong>light to moderate rain or thundershowers<\/strong> with <strong>occasional intense spells<\/strong> in parts of Hyderabad, accompanied by <strong>gusty winds up to 40 kmph<\/strong>. Mist and hazy conditions are likely during early morning and night hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An <strong>orange alert<\/strong> has been issued for <strong>Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanamkonda, Hyderabad, Jangaon, Jogulamba Gadwal, Khammam, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Narayanpet, Rangareddy, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Warangal<\/strong>, and <strong>Yadadri Bhuvanagiri<\/strong> districts, urging residents to stay cautious as heavy rain may continue for the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hyderabad, Oct 2025 : Heavy rain has been battering several parts of Telangana under the influence of severe cyclonic storm Montha, which made landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast near Narsapur.
