Islamabad, Dec 2025 :<\/strong> Amid escalating concerns over the welfare and whereabouts of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, the party has announced a series of protests outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Rawalpindi\u2019s Adiala Jail on Tuesday. The announcement comes as PTI leaders and even Khan\u2019s family members say they have been unable to reach him for several days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The situation worsened after the government imposed strict restrictions on public gatherings and limited visitation rights, sparking widespread speculation about Khan\u2019s condition. Rumours about his possible ill health\u2014and even unverified claims about his death\u2014prompted authorities to enforce Section 144 in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to local media, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema signed the order placing Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Punjab Amendment) Act, 2024, into effect from December 1 to 3. The order cites an \u201cimminent threat within the limits of District Rawalpindi,\u201d stressing that the restrictions are necessary to safeguard \u201cpublic safety, security, peace, and tranquillity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PTI leader Asad Qaiser told Dawn<\/em> that opposition lawmakers from both houses of parliament would assemble outside the IHC before marching toward Adiala Jail.
\u201cIt has been decided to hold protests because the IHC has failed to implement its order, and the Adiala jail administration is not willing to comply,\u201d he said, accusing authorities of deliberately blocking access to Khan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tensions peaked last week when the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa staged a sit-in outside the jail after being denied a meeting with Khan for the eighth consecutive time. Khan\u2019s family members\u2014including his sisters\u2014have also reportedly been barred from meeting him for several weeks, adding to worries about his safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to circulating rumours, Rawalpindi jail authorities issued a statement denying that Khan had been moved or that his health had deteriorated.
\u201cThere is no truth to reports about his transfer from Adiala Jail. He is fully healthy and receiving complete medical attention,\u201d officials said, according to The News International<\/em>. They dismissed the speculations as \u201cbaseless\u201d and insisted that prison officials were ensuring Khan\u2019s well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated since August 2023, faces a long list of legal cases, including charges of corruption, terrorism, and violating state secrecy laws. His arrest followed his removal from office in April 2022 through a no-confidence vote\u2014an event that triggered months of political turmoil and nationwide protests by PTI supporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the official clarification, PTI maintains that the government must allow immediate access to Khan to dispel concerns. Party leaders are demanding that authorities facilitate a meeting between Khan and his family, saying the absence of communication has raised legitimate questions about his treatment in custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As PTI prepares for protests on Tuesday, the political climate in Pakistan remains tense, with Khan\u2019s supporters insisting that transparency over his condition is essential for public trust and national stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
