Art & Culture Minister Participates in “North East India Festival 2024” in Turkey

Aizawl : At the invitation of the Consulate General of India, Istanbul, Turkey, and the North East Institute of Fashion Technology (NeIFT), Guwahati, Pu C. Lalsawivunga, Hon’ble Minister of Art & Culture Department, participated in the ‘North East India Festival 2024’ in Istanbul on 6th September 2024.

The event saw the presence of the Textile & Handicrafts Minister from Arunachal Pradesh, as well as Secretaries and Directors from various North Eastern states. The festival was also attended by the Mayor of Istanbul, local municipal authorities, and dignitaries from 37 different countries, including several Consul Generals.

In his address at the event, Mizoram’s Art & Culture Minister, Pu C. Lalsawivunga, remarked that the North Eastern states of India are often lesser-known even within the country. He emphasized the importance of bridging this gap in awareness, not only among fellow Indians but also globally. He expressed gratitude to the India Consulate in Turkey and NeIFT for organizing such a valuable event to showcase the rich cultural diversity of the North East.

The festival featured traditional performances, including Cheraw dance from Mizoram, which was well-received by the audience. Designers from across the North Eastern states also showcased their unique creations. The program served as a platform to present the vibrant cultures, arts, and crafts of the North East to an international audience, promoting greater understanding and appreciation globally.

The Minister was accompanied by the Director of the Art & Culture Department, Pi Carol VLMS Dawngkimi, and a Cultural Troupe from Mizoram.
