      Jia Chandra, an 11-year-old student of Army Public School, Bolaram, Secunderabad (Telangana), won hearts with her confident and thoughtful speech during the 77th Republic Day flag hoisting ceremony at her society. Speaking with remarkable clarity and maturity beyond her age, Jia beautifully blended patriotism with everyday responsibility, reminding everyone that love for the nation begins with being a good citizen. Her words reflected not just knowledge of India’s values, but a deep understanding of unity, discipline, and social responsibility. Such young minds, guided by strong values and fearless expression, are the true strength of the nation. India needs more young leaders like Jia—curious, compassionate, and courageous—who will carry the spirit of the Constitution forward and shape a brighter future for the country. Jia Speech below; Namaste! Respected uncles and aunties of Omishree Signet Society, my dear friends, and all the elders and children present here—my respectful greetings to everyone and heartfelt wishes on the occasion of Republic Day! Today, all of us have gathered here to celebrate the 77th Republic Day of our country. Generally, 26th January is considered a very important day in history books, because on this day in 1950, our Constitution came into force. But to be honest… for us children, today is special for one more reason. Today, we don’t get scolded by our parents for waking up at 6 in the morning! Instead, mom lovingly wakes us up and says— “Wake up fast, dear. We have the flag hoisting in the society, and yes, later there will be samosas and laddoos too!” Jokes apart, today is truly a day of pride. When I see all of us standing together under the Tricolour in the garden of Omishree Signet, I truly understand the meaning of “Unity in Diversity.” Our society itself is like a mini India! People from different states, different languages—but when we greet each other with a “Good Morning” in the lift, or celebrate Diwali, Holi, Christmas, Lohri together, we are simply Signet residents. Friends, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and our freedom fighters gave us a Constitution that ensured equality for all. At the age of 12, sometimes I feel that freedom means no homework or playing video games all day. But as we grow up, we begin to understand that true freedom and democracy mean understanding our responsibilities. Patriotism does not only mean fighting at the borders. If we don’t throw garbage in the society park, don’t press lift buttons unnecessarily, avoid wasting water, and help our neighbours—this too is a form of patriotism. And yes… if while playing we don’t break someone’s window glass—believe me, that will be the biggest act of patriotism for our society! In the end, I would like to say that we children are the future of this nation. Today we are hoisting the Tricolour in Omishree Signet; tomorrow, through our hard work and honesty, we must make it fly across the world. Let us all take a pledge today to become better citizens and make our society and our country even more beautiful. Before I conclude, I would like to recite these lines: “Do not live in the name of religion, Do not die in the name of religion, Humanity is the true religion of our nation— Live for the nation.” Once again, heartfelt wishes to everyone on Republic Day! Say it loudly with me: Bharat Mata ki — Jai! Vande — Mataram! Jai Hind!
