Nestled amidst the vibrant state of Rajasthan in India lies the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, also known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park. This haven for avian life boasts a rich tapestry of wetlands, scrublands, and grasslands, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike. The best time to visit Bharatpur, Rajasthan is between October and March for sighting migratory birds  that arrive in the area , making it a great time for bird watching.

The weather is cool and pleasant with temperatures ranging from 10-25 degrees centigrade and one can explore the city’s historical sites and the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary , which has walking trails along the wetlands. For avid bird watchers all times are good.

The drive from Delhi to the Keoladeo National Park is approximately 220 kms and takes  4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours. and the fastest way to reach is by train which covers the distance in approximately  3 hours . The nearest airport from Bharatpur is at Agra which is about 54 kms.

A Legacy of Transformation

The history of Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is intertwined with the royal heritage of Rajasthan. Built in the 1850s by Maharaja Suraj Mal as a duck shooting preserve, the area witnessed countless hunting expeditions.
