Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Issues Directive for Vita City Water Supply Scheme

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed immediate action to implement the Vita city water supply scheme in Sangli district. This directive was issued during a meeting at the Sahyadri State Guest House, chaired by the Chief Minister. The meeting was attended by Industry Minister Uday Samant, Sangli Zilla Parishad members Suhas Babar and Amol Babar, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department Dr. K. H. Govindaraj, and various senior officials.

Chief Minister Shinde emphasized the need for prompt administrative approval for the scheme. He also instructed that technical aspects, including water availability, be addressed as a priority to ensure timely implementation. The scheme, managed by the Maharashtra Life Authority under the State-level Urban Upliftment Mahabhiyan, involves an investment of approximately ₹87.18 crore. It will utilize two sources, the Krishna River and Ozar Lake from the Tembhu Upsa Irrigation Scheme. The first phase of the project aims to meet the water requirements for a population of up to 69,000 by 2025, with a daily supply of 12.86 lakh liters to Vita city. The plan is designed to accommodate a projected population of 1,04,335 by 2055.
