Maharashtra Leads the Nation in Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development

The United Nations has called for urgent action, stating that the era of global warming has ended and the era of drought has begun. India has been the first to respond, and Maharashtra is leading the charge within the country. To address this, the state has established the Chief Minister’s Environment and Sustainable Development Action Committee, chaired by Chief Minister Shinde. An executive board, led by Pasha Patel as executive chairman, has been formed to oversee the implementation of the committee’s initiatives.

Chief Minister Shinde has taken significant steps towards reducing temperature rises and carbon emissions, proposing the concept of “Green Maharashtra.” He has instructed relevant departments to use 5% biomass in thermal power projects. The state government has also launched an initiative to plant bamboo across 11 lakh hectares. Additionally, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has announced a bamboo cultivation program covering 1 lakh 20 thousand acres.

Due to these efforts, Chief Minister Shinde was recently honored by the organization Agriculture Today in Delhi. His work has now been recognized on a global scale, with the World Agriculture Forum acknowledging his contributions to environmental sustainability.
