Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Elected as the President of Chhattisgarh Archery Association

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has been elected as the new President of Chhattisgarh Archery Association. In the General Assembly meeting of the Association held today at Chief Minister’s residence, Shri Sai was unanimously elected to the position.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai said, “It is a matter of honour to be elected unanimously as the President of the Chhattisgarh Archery Association. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you.” Chief Minister mentioned that he has had the opportunity to participate in several events organized by the Association and alongside Shri Arjun Munda, the President of the National Archery Association. He commended the Association’s diligent efforts in refining the skills of Chhattisgarh’s archers, leading to their outstanding performances in national and other competitions, with several players winning medals.

Shri Sai emphasized his commitment to advancing the work of the Archery Association with the cooperation and guidance of all members. He shared that being from the tribal-dominated Jashpur region, he grew up using a bow and arrow for hunting. “Archery is a favourite sport, particularly among tribal communities. The Pahadi Korwa, a particularly vulnerable tribal group residing in Jashpur, have been exceptional archers since ancient times, traditionally using bows and arrows for hunting. Even today, almost every household possesses a bow and arrow,” he said. Chief Minister emphasized on the need to cultivate the natural archery talents of this community and announced plans to expand the existing Archery Academy in Jashpur. Presently, the state has three archery academies.

Chief Minister Shri Sai reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the development of sports in Chhattisgarh. “The government will make every possible effort to nurture sporting talent,” he stated. He further announced that the state government has pledged to reward Chhattisgarh athletes who win medals at the Olympic Games with Rs 3 crore for a gold medal, Rs 2 crore for a silver medal, and Rs 1 crore for a bronze medal. “Whatever is necessary for the development of sports will be done. Our athletes from Chhattisgarh will make the state proud in the field of archery as well,” he added.

Present at the occasion were Chief Minister’s Secretary Shri Rahul Bhagat, President of Chhattisgarh Badminton Association Shri Vikram Sisodia, newly elected office bearers of the Chhattisgarh Archery Association, Vice Presidents Shri Bharat Matiara, Shri Ramlakhan Paikra, and Shri Dipesh Arora, along with observers Shri Akram Khan, Shri Sumanta Chandra Mohanty, Shri Pravesh Joshi, committee members, and medal-winning archers.
