The initiative of National e-Library and National Digital Library for children and adolescents has been taken by the Central School Education and Literacy Department. The aim of the e-library is to provide free access to high quality non-academic books to children and adolescents across different geographical languages, genres and educational levels.

This application of National Digital Library is available on Android and iOS platforms. National e-Library applications are available in each age group (3-8, 8-11, 11-14 and 14-18). Thousands of books categorized with stories, biographies, classic scientific stories and novels etc. are available on this platform. It has provision for Digital Readers Club, Interactive Sessions and Monitoring Readers. More than one thousand non-academic e-books are being added regularly on this app with new titles. The National e-Library provides a diverse range of reading material in 22 languages ​​and English.

The letter to the District Education Officers said that the librarian of every school has been asked to encourage students to use the National e-Library app. The letter said that a Day should be celebrated where no children brings his school bag with the National Library.
