“CM Sai Announces Overhaul of Colonial Laws with New Justice Acts”

CM Vishnu Dev Sai announced that the Indian Penal Code has now become the Indian Justice Code. The era of colonial crime laws of the British Raj is over. In this context, a book based on the three new laws being implemented across the country from today has been released by the Residence Office.

“We have shifted from ‘Penal Acts’ made by the British to ‘Justice Acts.’ The Indian Penal Code, 1860 is now substituted by the Indian Judicial Code, 2023; the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 is substituted by the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023; and the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 is replaced by the Indian Evidence Act, 2023,” he said.

As the saying goes, “Justice delayed is justice denied.” Keeping this in mind, extensive changes have been made to the procedures of the new laws as necessary to ensure that victims receive prompt justice. These changes will strengthen the public’s faith in the justice system.

“I express my heartfelt thanks to the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, the Ministry of Law, and renowned legal experts of the country for these three new judicial laws. We assure you that our double-engine government is committed to providing prompt and appropriate justice to the citizens of Chhattisgarh in accordance with the intent of the new criminal laws,” he added.
