CM Yogi visits ground zero, inspects flood-affected areas by boat and conducting aerial surveys.

Lucknow : Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh’s pre-monsoon preparations have successfully averted major losses from flooding, demonstrating foresight and effective planning. These efforts in highly sensitive areas and sensitive areas have resulted in the relocation of over 11,962 individuals to safer locations in the last ten days, ultimately saving countless lives during this critical period.

CM Yogi demonstrated his proactive approach towards the flood crisis, visiting ground zero while officials were deployed in the field. He conducted aerial surveys of the affected areas and also inspected them by boat.

During his visits, CM Yogi distributed relief kits to flood victims and consoled disaster-stricken individuals. He presented financial assistance checks to families who lost loved ones in the disaster. Additionally, CM Yogi honored seven individuals who rescued eleven people in Shravasti with certificates of appreciation. He also announced a cash prize of one lakh rupees for each of the seven individuals.

*Preparations were completed in June itself*

The Yogi government initiated flood preparations well ahead of the monsoon’s arrival in the state. Acting on CM Yogi’s directives, all necessary measures were completed preemptively across 24 flood-prone and 16 sensitive districts to mitigate potential disaster scenarios.

Starting from the second week of June, CM Yogi conducted a series of meetings with officials. He instructed all personnel involved in relief efforts, from government-level officials to field staff, to operate at full capacity. Following these instructions, he conducted a thorough review of ongoing relief operations during subsequent meetings.

During these sessions, CM Yogi emphasized the need to rectify minor issues in the relief efforts and maintained continuous monitoring of flood-affected regions. Thanks to these proactive measures, the situation in the state’s flood-prone areas has stabilized, ensuring that all possible assistance reaches those in need.

*Continuous monitoring*

Relief Commissioner GS Naveen stated that on CM Yogi’s instructions, continuous monitoring is being conducted in flood-affected areas. “In Shravasti, due to a sudden release of water in Nepal, 11 workers who were in the fields were rescued late at night. It took about 8 hours of intense effort, but everyone was safely rescued. 

Similarly, 7 individuals stranded in floods in Pilibhit were airlifted and rescued in coordination with the Air Force. Additionally, 76 people trapped in the flood in Kushinagar were successfully rescued.”

The Relief Commissioner reported that in the past ten days, over 11,962 people have been relocated to safe areas in the flood-affected regions. Additionally, more than 21,239 cattle have been moved to secure locations. 

There are currently 804 flood shelters operational in these areas, accommodating a total of 1,365 individuals. 

Furthermore, 1,178 flood posts have been established to monitor the situation continuously, with 914 boats actively operating in the affected zones. 

In terms of relief efforts, more than 23,93,410 lunch packets and over 7,345 food kits have been distributed to assist those impacted by the disaster.

*Home-like facilities being provided to flood-hit people in shelters*

A total of 12 teams from NDRF, 9 from SDRF, 23 from PAC, and 1 from SSB have been deployed for carrying out relief operations in the flood-affected areas of the state. Continuous coordination is maintained with the Army, Air Force, NDRF, SDRF, and PAC in these regions.

In Pilibhit, 7,433 people and 170 cattle were rescued by boat, while in Shravasti, 2,280 people and 213 cattle were rescued. Adequate provisions have been made to ensure every individual in flood shelters receives cooked, clean, and nutritious food. 

Medical teams are conducting health check-ups, and arrangements for drinking water, medicines, and ORS are in place. Beds have been provided for rest, and adequate lighting has been arranged for nighttime. Additionally, milk and nutritious food have been organized for children in these shelters.

Additionally, hygiene-related dignity kits have been provided for women, ensuring their privacy and security in every shelter. Considering the increased activity of poisonous animals due to rain and floods, sufficient provisions of antivenom, medicines, and injections have been made at the block level.

Furthermore, livestock in the flood-affected areas have been relocated to higher ground, with adequate arrangements made for their fodder and water needs.
