Collector inaugurated the two-day cluster level basketball competition at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.

A two-day cluster level basketball competition was organized from 22 to 23 July at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Bahera, Bemetara. An evening cultural program was organized in the school premises, in which the District Collector Mr. Ranbir Sharma was present as the chief guest. On this occasion, ADM Mr. Anil Vajpayee, Joint Collector Ankita Garg, District Education Officer Mr. KK Banjare, SDM Ghanshyam Singh were present. The program was started by lighting a lamp in front of Maa Saraswati, after which the school Principal Mrs. Lakshmi Singh welcomed and greeted the Collector and other administrative officers by presenting a bouquet. In her welcome address, the school Principal informed Collector Mr. Sharma about the various participants who had come from 17 districts.

The District Magistrate welcomed all the visiting participants and escorts in his address and gave his blessings. During this, citing the example of Michael Jordan, he taught the virtue of strong willpower and trust and faith in oneself to perform excellently in basketball. In his address, he said that the children of Navodaya Vidyalaya are disciplined and promising, we see a bright future for our country in them. The Collector read the third chapter of Rashmirathi written by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar with great vigour. In the last phase of the programme, all the students of Naval NCC of the school, who have been awarded in the mock drill in Raipur, were encouraged by the Collector and administrative officers by putting medals on them.

In this competition, 140 participants from a total of 17 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas of Bilaspur cluster under Bhopal division took part. In the cluster level basketball competition, games for boys and girls were organised, in which competition for the age groups of 14, 17 and 19 years was certain. Teams from other districts started arriving at JNV Bemetara from Sunday morning itself. To make a successful outline of the cluster level basketball competition, a seminar was organised with all the escorts and all the school staff from various schools under the chairmanship of the school Principal Lakshmi Singh. In her address, the Principal welcomed and greeted all the escorts on behalf of the school family and also appealed to everyone for cooperation in making the program a success. The competition was inaugurated on Monday morning. It was presided over by the school Principal Laxmi Singh.

On the first day of this competition, the basic skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, layup shot of all the participants were trialed.

On the basis of this trial, a competition was held for the children, in which merit was made by the officials and experienced PT teachers according to the performance of the children. Under the next phase of the basketball competition, after the competition between all the teams on 23 July 2024, the winning players were selected by the officials and experienced PT teachers. The closing ceremony of this competition was organized at the holy time of the evening, in which Navodaya Alumni Dr. Awadhesh Patel was present as the chief guest. The Principal and all the alumni inaugurated the program by lighting a lamp in front of Maa Saraswati. The school principal greeted the chief guest and all the other guests by presenting a bouquet. The winning players of six boys and six girls of each of the three categories selected in this competition were encouraged by the Madam and the guests by wearing medals. In his address, Dr. Awadhesh Patel showed his connection with the students by sharing his experiences of his previous Navodaya life. He blessed all the winning players to raise the flag of Navodaya in big level competitions in future. All the eight officials who successfully completed this program and former PT Heera Lal Sahu were honored by presenting them certificates and mementos.

Participation certificates were given to all Navodaya players from 17 districts by the Principal, Chief Guest and other guests. Among them, 1 player from Baloda Bazar, 7 from Mahasamund, 2 from Janjgir Chapa, 8 from Satna, 5 from Bemetara, 2 from Balrampur, 2 from Korba, 2 from Anupur, 2 from Sidhi, 2 from Korea, 3 from Bilaspur were selected for the divisional level basketball competition. On this occasion, Durgesh Patel, Vikram Devangan, Chandra Prakash Jaiswal and the escorts of all 17 schools and the entire staff of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Bemetara were the guests of the grand celebration
