Comedian Shyam Rangeela to contest from Varanasi against PM Modi

Lok Sabha 24 : Comedian Shyam Rangeela, renowned for his impeccable imitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, shook the political landscape with a bold announcement on Wednesday. He revealed his aspirations to vie for a seat in the Lok Sabha in the forthcoming elections, with Varanasi as his chosen battleground, directly challenging PM Modi himself.

In a candid video shared on X, Rangeela addressed the skepticism surrounding his candidacy head-on. Dispelling any notion of jest, he affirmed, “I, Shyam Rangeela, the comedian, am here to share my ‘Mann ki baat’ with you. There’s a lingering doubt: Is the news of my candidacy in Varanasi real? Is this all just a joke? Let me assure you, this is no jest! I am indeed contesting against PM Modi! In our democracy, anyone can contest elections, and I have my reasons for doing so.”

Expressing concern over the dearth of alternative candidates in various constituencies, Rangeela highlighted the significance of offering voters genuine choices. Reflecting on instances like the uncontested victory in Surat and the controversies surrounding the Chandigarh mayoral elections, he emphasized, “It’s unsettling that voters sometimes lack options. Every citizen should have the right to choose. I fear Varanasi might face a similar fate, prompting my decision to enter the fray there. I hope to amplify the voice of dissent and provide voters with a much-needed alternative.” Rangeela concluded with a call to action, urging the public to exercise their voting rights and extend their support to his campaign in Varanasi, promising to challenge Modi on his home turf.
