Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Launches ‘We are Witnesses of World Heritage Nomination’ Campaign

Pune : Deputy Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar launched the signature campaign, ‘We are Witnesses of World Heritage Nomination,’ at the Shivram Hari Rajguru Wada Memorial in Rajgurunagar (Khed).

Present at the event were MLA Dilip Mohite Patil, Additional Collector Ajay More, Deputy Divisional Officer Anil Daunde, Assistant Director of the Archaeology Department Dr. Vilas Vahne, Public Works Department Executive Engineer Milind Barbhai, Tehsildar Jyoti Deore, Group Development Officer Vishal Shinde, and Municipal Council Chief Ajinkya Randive.

Twelve forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj have been proposed for World Heritage nomination under the ‘Maratha Military Landscape’. This includes Shivneri, Lohgad, and Rajgad forts in the district. In support of this nomination, various activities have been organized in collaboration with the District Administration and the Archaeology Department to promote these forts.

Mr. Pawar signed the signature board as part of the campaign. Dr. Vilas Vahne, Assistant Director of the Archaeology Department, stated that several activities will be undertaken to engage citizens in raising awareness about the nomination of these forts as World Heritage Sites. This signature campaign is one of the many initiatives planned to involve the public, he added.
