Gujarat Fishermen Thank CM Patel and Fisheries Minister for Postponing New Fishing Season to August 15 Instead of August 1

Gandhinagar : Considering the monsoon season in Gujarat, the fishing season has been closed from June 1 to July 31. Over the past 5-7 years, shifts in the seasonal cycle due to current climatic changes and global warming have led to increased low-pressure systems and storms at sea, particularly in early August. Given the high waves and strong currents, boat associations across all Gujarat ports recommended postponing the fishing season start to August 15 instead of August 1. Addressing this concern, the Gujarat government has decided to postpone the beginning of the fishing season from August 1 to August 15 this year, to protect fishermen from potential hazards and loss due to sea storms. The decision to begin the fishing season on August 15 has been welcomed by the fishing community. Today, several Fishermen’s Boat Associations in Gujarat expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and Fisheries Minister Shri Raghavji Patel at Gandhinagar for this thoughtful decision.

It is worth mentioning that various organizations have expressed their gratitude to the state government. These include the Shri Mahavir Machchimar Cooperative Society of Gandhinagar, Shri Porbandar Machchimar Boat Association, Akhil Gujarat Machchimar Mahamandal, Shri Kharwa Samaj Fishermen Boat Association, Gujarat Pradesh Fishermen Cell, Seema Jagran Manch-Saurashtra Province, Salaya Fishermen Cooperative Society, Shri Chorwad Samast Kharwa Community, Shri South Gujarat Boat Owners Welfare Association, Shri Dharabandar Fisherman Boat Association, Mangarol Bandar Boat Association, Salaya Fishermen’s Association, Sri Mangarol Kharwa Samaj, Fishing Boat Association, Beyt Dariya Khedu Fishing Boat Owners Association, and Beyt Balapar Fishermen’s Co-operative Society.
