Lunglei HPC Vice Chairman Pu V. Malsawmtluanga Graces Zohnuai Branch YMA Golden Jubilee Celebration

Lunglei : On the evening of 16th September 2024 (Saturday), Lunglei High Powered Committee Vice Chairman and Lunglei North Constituency MLA, Pu V. Malsawmtluanga, served as the guest of honor at the Zohnuai Branch YMA Golden Jubilee celebration.

In his address, Pu V. Malsawmtluanga expressed his appreciation for the Zohnuai Branch YMA’s milestone of reaching 50 years. He acknowledged the efforts and dedication of the YMA’s early founders and leaders, attributing the branch’s success to their perseverance and selflessness. He also highlighted the significant role the YMA has played in Mizoram as one of the largest and most impactful voluntary organizations, emphasizing its role in supporting the underprivileged and assisting those in need. He urged the members of the YMA to continue advancing in unity and compassion, striving for peace and progress.

Pu V. Malsawmtluanga further stated that the Mizoram Government’s Handholding Policy would soon be launched, which aims to uplift the youth of Zohnuai by providing opportunities for growth and development. He also referenced Lallianzuala Chhangte, a Mizo who has achieved national recognition in India, as a symbol of the potential within the youth of Zohnuai. He encouraged them to believe in themselves, work hard, and bring honor to their community and state.

The Zohnuai Branch YMA Golden Jubilee event, held at the Zohnuai Ground, was chaired by Pu Lalnunthara Chhangte and Nl. Laldingngheti Pautu. The ceremony began with Pu R. Lalduhawma, Branch YMA Adviser, leading the opening prayers, followed by a welcome speech by President Pu C. Lalthanpuia. Jubilee Celebration Committee Secretary, Tv. PT Lallawmsanga, presented a report, while Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC) Ward II Councillor, Pi Lalmuanpuii Renthlei, Lunglei Sub-Headquarters YMA President, Pu K. Lalfakzuala, and Branch YMA Founder Secretary, Pu R. Lalsangvunga, shared words of appreciation. Zohnuai Local Council Chairman, Pu PC Vanlalhruaia, unveiled the jubilee souvenir, and the 55 former leaders were honored during the event. In addition, sports prizes were distributed, and performances by various groups, including MUP Zohnuai Unit, MHIP Zohnuai Branch, and different YMA sections, entertained the audience. The celebration concluded with a jubilee concert.

The Zohnuai Branch YMA was established on 16th September 1974 by around 50 members. Currently, the branch has 1,709 members spread across five sections. The first president of the branch was Pu K. Pamanga, who inaugurated the jubilee memorial stone on the previous day. In honor of the golden jubilee, the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee organized various activities, including a marathon race, volleyball, football, badminton, tug-of-war, arm-wrestling, wrestling, and more, which were held over three months across different sections.
