Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar Meets Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi

Aizawl : This evening, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services Department, met with Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, at his residence in New Delhi. They discussed ways to further develop sports in Mizoram through various central government schemes.

Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar highlighted that although Mizoram is a small state with a low population, many Mizo athletes have gained recognition across India and internationally. He emphasized to the Union Sports Minister that Mizo youth possess exceptional potential in sports and expressed his desire for Mizoram to be included in various central sports development schemes.

The Union Sports Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, assured that efforts would be made to support the advancement of sports in Mizoram and India as a whole. He specifically mentioned the Khelo India Scheme and the Ministry’s plans to ensure Mizoram benefits from these initiatives.

Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar also expressed Mizoram’s interest in participating in India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games. He presented a report on the Mizoram Sports Conclave held in Aizawl on June 13-14, 2024, which had been submitted to the Union Sports Minister. Additionally, he shared a presentation detailing plans to conduct sports coaching across Mizoram to nurture talent in various sports disciplines.

The Union Sports Minister commended Mizoram’s efforts and progress under the Vision 2036 Olympics initiative and assured his continued support for the state’s sports development. He also accepted Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar’s invitation to visit Mizoram at the earliest convenience to further discuss and oversee sports development in the state.
