National Teacher Award for Five Teachers from Maharashtra

New Delhi : Four teachers from Maharashtra who have effectively utilized information and technology to enhance accessibility and quality in school, higher, and skill education were honored with the ‘National Teacher Award’ today by President Droupadi Murmu.

The award recognized teachers who have improved school education through the use of educational mobile apps, high-quality e-content, visual and audio content creation, and various technologies such as computers, television, YouTube, and other software and hardware.

The ‘National Teacher Award’ distribution ceremony, held on ‘National Teacher’s Day’, was organized by the Union Ministry of Education at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The event was attended by President Droupadi Murmu, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of State for School Education Jayant Chaudhary, Sukanya Mujumdar, and other senior officials.

This year, five teachers from Maharashtra received the ‘National Teacher Award’ for their outstanding contributions to school education, higher education, and skill development. The recipients included Mantaiyya Bedke, a primary school teacher from Zilla Parishad in Jajavandi, Gadchiroli district; Sagar Bagde, a painting teacher at M. Lohia High School and Junior College in Kolhapur; Dr. Shilpagiri Prasad Ganpule, an English professor at Ramakrishna More College in Pune; Prof. Srinivas Hotha from IISER Pune; and Vivek Chandalia, Director of ITI under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

Starting this year, the National Teacher Award has expanded its scope to include teachers from the Department of Higher Education and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. This year, 50 school teachers, 16 higher education teachers, and 16 teachers from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship were honored. The award includes a merit certificate, Rs 50,000, and a medal.
