Amit Shah Says India Has Emerged as ‘Trusted Voice for Global Peace’ Under PM Modi

Home Minister cites Russian President Vladimir Putin’s appreciation of Modi’s efforts to end the Ukraine conflict, highlighting dialogue and diplomacy on Gandhi Jayanti.

New Delhi, Oct 2026 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said India had emerged as a “trusted voice for global peace” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, citing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s appreciation of the Indian leader’s efforts to facilitate an end to the Ukraine conflict.

In a post on X, Shah said Putin’s recognition of Modi’s persistent efforts towards global peace was a matter of immense pride for every Indian. He noted that the Russian President’s remarks came on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, whose message of peace and non-violence continues to inspire the world.

“The Russian President Shri Vladimir Putin’s appreciation of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s tireless efforts towards global peace brings immense pride to every Indian,” Shah said.

He added that Putin’s statement on Gandhi Jayanti reflected India’s growing role in international discussions on peace and conflict resolution.

According to Shah, Modi has consistently emphasised that lasting solutions to international conflicts cannot emerge from battlefields but must be achieved through dialogue and diplomacy.

“During periods marked by wars, conflicts and turbulence, Modi Ji has conveyed the message that solutions do not emerge from battlefields but through dialogue and diplomacy,” the Home Minister said.

Shah also highlighted India’s assistance to countries facing wars, conflicts and natural calamities, linking the country’s international engagement to the traditional Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means “the world is one family”.

He said India had continued to extend help and assistance during difficult situations, reinforcing its commitment to international cooperation and humanitarian support.

“This is the reason why India’s voice matters greatly today whenever the world faces a global crisis, and Modi Ji’s words are listened to with keen attention,” Shah added.

Putin had praised Modi’s repeated efforts to encourage a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict while speaking at an event in Moscow on Thursday. He said the Indian Prime Minister had consistently raised the issue during their meetings, despite the close and friendly relationship between Russia and India.

Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club, Putin said Modi regularly discussed the need to end the conflict and had expressed interest in finding a mutually acceptable solution.

“Regarding Prime Minister Modi's position on ending wars and so forth, I can say that he is one of those world leaders who, despite our very good, even friendly, relations, and very good personal ties, constantly raises questions about ending the conflict in Ukraine. He always raises these issues at every meeting with us,” Putin said.

The Russian President further indicated that Modi had proposed ideas aimed at resolving the conflict through mutually acceptable arrangements.

Shah’s remarks highlighted the Indian government’s emphasis on dialogue, diplomacy and international cooperation, while drawing a connection between Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence and contemporary efforts to address global conflicts.
