BJP Police Brutalise AAP Leaders Demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s Resignation

October 2026 : The Aam Aadmi Party staged a strong protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over vote theft. During this, the BJP’s Delhi Police showed its brutality against senior AAP leaders as well as ordinary party workers. The police detained Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Atishi, MLAs Sanjeev Jha, Jarnail Singh and Kuldeep Kumar, along with senior leader Anurag Dhanda and a large number of workers. Meanwhile, AAP’s student wing ASA also reached Jantar Mantar and demanded Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. The party asked whether peaceful protest had now also become a crime in this country.

Senior AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on X that the protest was being held against Gyanesh Kumar and Amit Shah was engaged in crushing the protest. He said that today the Delhi Police was engaged in crushing every voice demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.

Meanwhile, Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj said that holding a protest is our constitutional right. The police and government are saying that permission for the protest was not given, but why would the government give permission for a protest against itself? Jantar Mantar is a designated place for protests where separate permission is not required, yet the Aam Aadmi Party had formally informed the police and submitted an application about it around six days ago. Now, if the police chooses to sit without taking any decision on it, that is its choice. This peaceful protest will take place in different cities across the country today and its echo will be heard throughout the country.

Saurabh Bharadwaj said that around 10-15 police personnel, along with the SHO, were sitting outside my house. I sent them a message and also made and sent a video in the morning saying that I was not present at home, so they should do their work, but they still remained stationed there. CRPF and police personnel have been deployed outside MP Sanjay Singh’s house and police have also been deployed outside the houses of other leaders. But this is not an agitation of leaders, rather it is an agitation of the common people. Even if the leaders are detained or arrested by the police, the people will still have to reach here to mark their presence. There is no one single leader of this movement, rather every boy, every girl, every Gen-Z youth, every elderly person and every mother is the leader of this movement.

Meanwhile, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Atishi said that we were holding a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar to protect the democracy of the country and our right to vote. We have been detained from Jantar Mantar by Modi ji’s Delhi Police. From there, the Delhi Police has brutally kept Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers detained at Fatehpur Beri police station. Modi ji, we are not going to be afraid of your police. We will continue to fight to protect the right to vote. The fight against vote theft will continue. The system in the Election Commission will have to be corrected, Gyanesh Kumar will have to resign. Vote theft will not be allowed.

Has Peaceful Protest Now Also Become a Crime? – Sanjeev Jha

AAP MLA from Burari Sanjeev Jha said on X that he was arrested for participating in a peaceful protest against Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar. On Gandhi Jayanti today, is peacefully protesting while remembering Mahatma Gandhi’s truth, non-violence and democratic values also a crime?

Every Section of the Country Now Wants Freedom from This Dictatorial Government – Jarnail Singh

Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh said that no matter how much police the BJP deploys and no matter how many guards it puts up, nobody can stop us from going peacefully to Jantar Mantar and demanding the resignation of this “vote thief” Gyanesh Kumar. Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation will happen anyway.

He said that since morning, the Delhi Police has been given the duty of reaching the houses of all those who are going to Jantar Mantar to demand Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation and hold a peaceful protest and stopping them from going. The Delhi Police has turned the area outside my house into a complete police camp, and the same situation exists outside the houses of most leaders and workers going to Jantar Mantar.

Jarnail Singh said that even the Delhi Police personnel themselves, from inside, want this protest to take place and for this country to get freedom from this dictatorial government. If someone wants to come to Jantar Mantar, they will definitely find a way through the right or left. If they cannot come by car, they should come by bike, and if the police stops the bike, they should walk. We will reach there by any means and ensure that we get the resignation of this “vote thief” Gyanesh Kumar.

Modi Ji Will Not Be Able to Save Gyanesh Kumar Even with the Power of the Police – Kuldeep Kumar

Meanwhile, Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar said that we have reached Jantar Mantar to obtain Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Despite all the obstacles created by Modi ji’s police, our Leader of Opposition Atishi, national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda, councillor Abhishek Tiwari and all our worker colleagues are present here.

He said that our reaching Jantar Mantar against the dictatorship of the Modi government is the beginning of saving democracy and the Constitution in this country. This campaign to save the democracy of the country will begin with Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, therefore we will definitely get Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.

He said that the manner in which the police is picking people up from there and beating them with lathis and sticks is very sad. Modi ji, even with the power of the police, you will not be able to save Gyanesh Kumar, and if Gyanesh Kumar does not go, your resignation will be next.

Now the Time Has Come for Modi Ji to Also Pick Up His Bag – Anurag Dhanda

Aam Aadmi Party national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda said that the fear of the police is clearly visible, as anyone approaching Jantar Mantar is immediately being caught and arrested. But the arrival of people has not stopped.

He said that Gyanesh Kumar will have to go now under any circumstances, and added, “I feel that the time has also come for Modi to pick up his bag.”
