Hyderabad, Aug 2026 : The makers of director Bobby Kolli’s much-awaited action entertainer starring Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi have officially unveiled the title of the film as ‘Kaaka’, setting the stage for one of the major releases of the upcoming Sankranthi season.
The title announcement was made on Saturday as part of Chiranjeevi’s birthday celebrations. The actor, who enjoys a massive following across Telugu-speaking states and beyond, turned a year older on Saturday, and the film’s team chose the occasion to reveal the much-awaited title and release date.
KVN Productions, which is backing the project, unveiled the title through an intriguing teaser and confirmed that ‘Kaaka’ will arrive in theatres on January 13, 2027, coinciding with the Sankranthi festival.
Sharing the title glimpse on social media, the production house introduced Chiranjeevi’s character as Supervisor Satyam, associated with Ammaji Aqua Industries in Ravulapalem, while extending birthday wishes to the megastar.
The teaser offers a glimpse into the unusual setting and characterisation of the film. Chiranjeevi is seen working at a shrimp farm named Ammaji Aqua Industries, where people from different parts of the country are employed. His character, Satyam, works as a supervisor at the facility.
The teaser takes an interesting turn when an employee attempts to return a key to Satyam but accidentally drops it into a pool filled with shrimps. Chiranjeevi then retrieves the key using a massive electromagnet. However, the key is not the only thing pulled out of the pool. Several weapons also emerge along with it, immediately suggesting that there is much more to Satyam’s character than meets the eye.
The key carries a distinctive keychain bearing the words ‘I love dad’, adding an emotional element to an otherwise action-oriented introduction and leaving fans curious about the character’s backstory and his relationship with his family.
The title teaser has generated considerable excitement among Chiranjeevi’s fans and Telugu cinema audiences, particularly because the film had been referred to as #Mega158 during its production.
According to sources close to the production, the film has already completed around 40 days of shooting, while the edit of the first half has also been locked. The team is reportedly confident about the material completed so far and is preparing for the next phase of production.
Sources further indicate that the first half culminates in a major action sequence designed as the film’s interval block. The sequence, which was reportedly shot recently on a large scale, is expected to serve as one of the film’s key theatrical attractions.
The action episode is said to have been mounted with considerable scale and technical ambition, with the makers aiming to deliver a strong high point before the narrative moves into its second half.
According to those associated with the project, the initial output has boosted the confidence of the team. The film is said to combine action, emotion, entertainment and intensity, with the makers attempting to create a commercial entertainer suited to the festive release window.
Actresses Anaswara Rajan and Nivetha Pethuraj are playing important roles in the film. The project is currently being developed as a Sankranthi 2027 release, with the production progressing according to schedule.
The film marks the second collaboration between director Bobby Kolli and Chiranjeevi. The duo previously worked together on the successful action entertainer ‘Waltair Veerayya’, which brought Chiranjeevi back in a high-energy commercial avatar.
With the title now officially announced and the January 13, 2027 release date locked, expectations around ‘Kaaka’ are expected to rise further. The combination of Chiranjeevi’s star power, Bobby Kolli’s action-driven filmmaking and the film’s intriguing premise has already made it one of the Telugu industry's notable upcoming projects.
