Oil marketing companies raise 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder prices by Rs 62.50 and aviation fuel rates by Rs 16 per litre, while domestic LPG remains unchanged
New Delhi, Oct 2026 : State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have increased the prices of commercial LPG and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) from Thursday, October 1, following firming international benchmark prices.
The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been raised by Rs 62.50. The latest increase comes after a Rs 9.50 hike in September. In August, however, commercial LPG prices were reduced by Rs 192 per cylinder, following a Rs 183.50 cut in July.
Commercial LPG prices had surged to a record level in June amid disruptions in global energy supplies and elevated international prices. Between February and June, rates had increased by Rs 1,373 per 19-kg cylinder, rising from Rs 1,740.50 to Rs 3,113.50 before declining in July and August.
In contrast, the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been kept unchanged at Rs 942. Prices in this segment had increased by Rs 89 per cylinder between March and June amid supply disruptions linked to the West Asia crisis and higher international energy prices.
OMCs have also raised ATF prices by Rs 16 per litre for domestic airlines. The latest revision takes the price of aviation turbine fuel to Rs 137 per litre from Rs 121 per litre.
The increase follows two successive hikes in ATF prices. Rates were raised by Rs 6.28 per litre, or 5.46 per cent, in September and by Rs 5 per litre in August.
ATF is a major component of airline operating expenses and can account for up to 40 per cent of an airline's total operating costs. Changes in aviation fuel prices can therefore have a significant impact on the cost structure of airlines.
The latest revisions in LPG and ATF prices are based on movements in international benchmark prices as well as changes in the rupee-dollar exchange rate.
Prices of ATF and LPG are reviewed and revised on the first day of every month. The final retail price may vary across states because of differences in local taxes, including VAT.
Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices have remained unchanged. The two fuels were last increased in May and have not undergone a further revision since then.
