Sept 2026 : The 73rd edition of the Miss World pageant concluded in spectacular fashion in Vietnam, with Joherrie Mola Dominguez of the Dominican Republic being crowned Miss World 2026. Spain’s Elisabeth Rains finished as the first runner-up, while Malaysia’s Tanusia Chetti was named second runner-up.
Outgoing Miss World Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand crowned Dominguez at the grand finale, marking the beginning of a new reign for the Dominican Republic representative.
Dominguez, who works as a teacher and social activist, has earned recognition for her efforts in education and community service. Through her organisation, “Voices of Tomorrow,” she works to provide English-language education to underprivileged children. Her commitment to improving educational opportunities and supporting disadvantaged communities emerged as an important part of her Miss World journey.
The next edition of the international beauty pageant will be hosted by Tanzania.
Meanwhile, India’s representation in the global pageant circuit will continue later this year, with Kajia Liz Mejo set to represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico.
At Miss World 2026, India was represented by Femina Miss India World 2024 Nikita Porwal. The Madhya Pradesh native progressed to the Top 40 but could not advance to the Top 20 in the next round, bringing disappointment for many Indian pageant followers.
Despite missing out on the Top 20, the Miss India Organisation highlighted Porwal’s achievement, noting that she maintained India’s run of placements at the Miss World pageant for the fifth consecutive year. The organisation described her performance as a matter of national pride.
Porwal, who hails from Ujjain, has experience as a television anchor and actor. She appeared in the Brij-language film Chambal Par. Her distinctive gown at the Miss World finale also attracted considerable attention, adding to her visibility during the competition.
